There's no listing for an Albert (or violet) Burgess in the commercial pages of the 1940 or 1964 Kelly's. Also checked in Pretoria road and in Private addresses, but no luck

Electoral rolls give:
1935 - 64 Victoria Street, Small Heath - Albert Edward Burgess, Violet Florence Burgess.
in 1939 they are both at 67 Wright Street, Small Heath.

Many thanks for the info on Albert Burgess.

I know that 1932 they lived Wyndcliffe Road Small Heath - seems they moved about in the same area.

Moving about seemed normal before WW2, my own family ancestors in Brighton seemed to move every year, not far, just a street or two away. Renting was the usual method of living at an address in those days, and I suppose that when something cheaper came along, or your own landlord out the rent up, you moved.
