Anyone have connections with William Bunce born about 1870 married May Ann Banbury in London; Children Albert, Charles, George, Sidney, Maud, William and Louise. They were born all over the country as William Senior was in Gordon Highlanders but they somehow ended up in Birmingham after about 1905.

I have also been contacted through another site by someone with connections to Walter Bunce born 1859 who married Sarah Liley. This Walter also had brother William. Not connected to me but any use to anyone else??

There is a record of a W Bunce Private 2nd Middlesex Regiment in the Birmingham Roll of Honor 1914-1918. If you want the other details let me know.

Hello Moma P

Yes that William Bunce sounds like the very man! Poss address Ninevah Road, Handsworth. Any info most appreciated.

Also......seeing as you are there on the B's, so to speak....there wouldn't by chance be a Blakemore, would there, particularly Arthur Richard??!!

Many thanks

Steve

Bunce W Private 2nd Middlesex Regiment.
He enlisted in December 1910 and shortly after the outbreak of war in August 1914 proceded the western Front. There he took part in the Battle of Neuve Chapelle and many other engagements and served through severe fighting at various places, including Neuve Eglise. He was wounded in action and in March 1916 was invalided out of the army. He holds the 1914 Star and General Service and Victory Medals.
59 Niveveh Road, Handsworth, Birmingham. 1839

I have copied this exactly from the book. There is just one Blakemore E Private Durham Light Infantry. Lower Cross St Smethwick.

Thanks for the Bunce info - it ties in nicely

As for the Blakemore - or rather abscence - it also in a way confirms that although a relative believed he served in WW1 I had my doubts; I could find nothing elsewhere.

Thanks for your prompt reply

Steve

Steve, the book I have is far from complete. I believe the people included had to give the information before it was put in the book. It contains cevillians as well as service men. No Aston people are in the book.
Its always difficult to find the ones who servived. Terry may be able to help with your search for Arthur Blakemore.
