Re: sarah brueton

Hi Astonian,

I havent had much luck with your query I'm sorry to say, I can't find a marriage for John and Sarah which might give any clues for a place to start.
Hopefully someone else will have better luck.

hi lindyloo
first of many thanks a person sent me abit of a drawing down from her it showed her doing a tree wqhic said john hughes married sarah brueton
and the daughter was a mary anne hughes born on the dated i had put thats all i have got on it at the moment it could be brum or bretfordon
because i am right this john or james hughes was a brother in vilage of salford which would have come under the parish of bretonford
i am beginning to think there is some think wrong here linds ;i know the date of mary anis corect that she died the day after my birthday
because it was her will and testoment but the name sarah brueton does not give any think ;
and early info i had that family from salford is mentiom=ngsome think else completelyand possibly john hughes was the father and marying sarah
brueton ; many thanks again i will try and get more info ; best wishes

Astonian, have found a John Hughes, married to Sarah, on 1871 census. They were living in Manchester in Medliott Street, Hulme, on the district of Chorlton, parish of St Mark, with two children, Mary Ann aged 4 and Cordula aged 2. They are all listed aas being born in Chorlton, Manchester.
I will try to track a wedding down for you now.
Sue
Haven't had any joy with marriage tonight, but will look again tomorrow if no-one else has had a go before me.

i shall not sleep tonight thinking i have finaly cracked the code of mystry of this woman
i look foreward to hearing from you sue ; good night ; god bless alan astonian;;;

Hi Astonian,

I remember looking at this lady for you before, but I can't put my hands on the notes I made unfortunately.
I found the Jelf tree on Ancestry to which I believe you refer containing the information about Sarah Brueton and John Hughes, but I can not find any information to back up the marriage and there are no sources on the tree.

I have checked the births for Mary Ann's in the relevant quarter and there are 7.
1. Warrington
2. St Geo H Sq
3. Prescott
4. Birmingham
5. Wrexham
6. Carnarvon
7. Corwan

I also found the census that SisterSue spoke of, which fits but like Sue, I could not find a Brueton/Bruton marriage for this.
(Note....I believe that Cordula is Cordelia on that census who later married an Alfred Peers)

There is however, in the 1871 census a Mary Ann Hughes aged 5 and an Elizabeth Hughes aged 7 listed together as Orphans at Mr Mason's Erdington Orphanage, place of birth Unknown....maybe this is Mary Ann ????

Would it be possible for you to contact the person who sent you the tree to see if he/she has any documented evidence for the Hughes/Brueton marriage, or if they could give you any further information as to the source ?
