Any past doormen/bouncers on broadstreet on the door at maximillions, tramps, etc. 1970,80,90's. Does Al stevens sound familiar???

didnt he have the cauliflower ear, hasnt he got staff on nearly every door in brum. im sure when i was drinking in tamworth two years ago and was talking to the bouncers of an irish pub, they worked for him as well.

Those names don't sound familiar to me,

How about the name Phil Greatrex .. he was a doorman right thru 90's up until 2005/6 .. he is a good friend of mine

Thread revival, hope its OK. Al Stevens ran the doormen at the Kings Head when I ran it back in the 80s, he was just starting out on his own then IIRC, his brother Bobby worked the door (very good at their job), another doorman he employed was Dennis Baker (no relation to me). Steve did have a boxing gym at one point but not sure what happened to that. Al never drank on duty and would not allow his staff to drink alcohol until after we locked up. Al was a nice bloke but very efficient in handling trouble makers. Another guy I met a few time was Stevie Chance or Chants maybe, not sure who was a more 'traditional' doorman, tux and bowtie while Al dressed smart casual.
