Hi all,
I'm hoping i'm in the right place here..
This is just an off the cuff kind of question about a family tit bit of info that i was given by my elderly Aunty before she died..
Now i don't know if there is any truth in it, but i was told that either her dad or grandad was a professional player for Birmingham City and for cardiff..
I was also told that either one of them was a boxer too.. And was well known in his day..

Their names are Samuel davies born 1886 in birmingham and died 1926..
His dad (her grandad) John Davis (different spelling through census and certificate info).. born 1845 in Birmingham and died 1902.

Was one of them a famous boxer and/or a famous football player ?
It's a long shot i know, and i've googled them for ages trying to find something but to no avail. Is anyone in the 'KNOW' ?
Thanks and kind regards
Rachel x;)

Rachael,

I am sorry but I can ategorically state that neither Samuel or John Davis (Davies) has played for Birmingham Cityl As for boxers I do not know.

Thank you Old boy, it was probably a chinese whisper kind of a story. My elderly Aunt also told me that we had Welsh ancestry, but i haven't found any yet lol..
You never know though, these things usually have a grain of truth, maybe it was an uncle or friend or something..
Thankyou anyway Old boy, your investigating has put this to rest..
Regards

AAhaaa i've found the boxing connection.. Its JACK HOOD.. Apparently my grandad used to be a sparring partner (or used to spar him).. Jack is also meant to be a member of our family too but i'm trying to find the link..
I knew there would be a grain somewhere.. ;o)..
