Bournville - Athletic Pavilion - Bournville Lane

Ian FOFB

Brummie yes ! Novice no !
The 'then' pictures are taken from old postcards, the 'now' pictures taken from Google Streetview.
The older of the pictures is thought to date from the 1920's. The now picture is looking at the other side of the pavilion on Bournville Lane.
Lost photos replaced by what I believe were the same as original

The sports area in front of the factory was sometimes used for things other than sports. In 1911 an aero exhibition was held at Bournville, and Graham White flew his Farnham biplane from Hendon to Bournville, landing on the sports field in front of the pavilion after coming in "between the chimneys". I should think the groundsmen had a bit of work to put in before the cricket season that year
