Has anyone any idea what a boot or boat clacker' is? Found on the 1881 census, she lived in Gt Lister St Aston. Curious but cant find any information on it anywhere.

this is a spelling mistake it should read clicker (boot and shoe trade)

BOOT / SHOE CLICKER This was one of the skilled and best paid jobs in the shoe industry. A clicker CUT out the leather for the different parts that made up the shoe and the term comes from the sound made when carrying out the job.

Brilliant, i did wonder if it may be a spelling mistake and now i know. Thanks. O0
