Apart from the Godfrey OS maps which are invaluable (and cheap) I use these books a lot for details.
1. Old Aston,Erdington,Kingstanding & Great Barr - by Eric Armstrong mainly photos and postcards
2. Images of England - Erdington by Marion Baxter & Peter Drake
3.The story of Erdington (from sleepy hamlet to thriving suburb) by Douglas V Jones
4. Victorian & Edwardian Birmingham from old photographs by Dorothy McCulla
Hope these are helpful
