Thank you for replying, im not sure of the correct spelling but do you know their address - im putting together a 'this is your life' for my mother who worked there from the age of 14

Your welcome Margetts01, I couldnt find anything for Bloxwich's but found Bloxidge Bros Ltd under Gilt Jewellery Manufacturers in Kelly's Directory (will need to recheck the years) Also found them in Telephone Directories and on a website called Grace's Guide .

The address was Regal Works, Holliday Road, 21 in Kellys
and Grace's guide says
of Icknield Street
of Regal Works, Holliday Road, Handsworth.
I can look again if you need dates.

Hi Lindyloo and Margetts01, Good for you Lindyloo finding Bloxidge Bros. Ltd. Their brand was "Hollywood" and my mother owned
a brooch that she bought at Woolworth's eons ago with Hollywood etched on the back of it. Sadly, it was stolen when their house was broken into in the a few decades ago. I liked this web page about the company. https://blog.jewelsandfinery.co.uk/2011/03/vintage-jewellery-signed-hollywood.html
There are also some nice examples of their brooches at this site: https://www.perfectlyvintage.co.uk/vintage_jewellery/?id=1280

Hi jennyann, Thank you for your comment :) Such a shame that your Mother's house was broken into :(
I liked that first site too and I love the brooch on the second link.
Hopefully your links will help Margetts01 a bit more.
I'm curious now...I have a brooch that belonged to my Nan, I will have to have a look at it tomorrow to see if it was stamped !!

Hi Lindyloo and Jennyann thank you for your kind assistance and links, some very helpful information, still waiting to clarify the name once I do I will let you know

My father, Albert ('Bert') Francis, was General Manager of Bloxidge Brothers right up to his untimely death at my wedding reception in Penzance on 1st July 1967. On the odd occasions when I had a free Saturday from school in Solihull, my father would take me with him to visit the factory and yes, I'm pretty sure it was in Soho Road, Handsworth.

I used to love being shown around "the works" (as it was known) by the Foreman whose name, I'm almost certain, was Tom. (I'm not sure I ever knew his surname.) There was also a small factory in Lye which I think used to produce castings for the jewellery. From (now rather distant) memory, the products were set predominantly with marcasite stones, were at the cheaper end of the costume jewellery market and the principal stockist was indeed Woolworths.

My father established the company's export market and I remember my family would always receive a Christmas card from his Australian 'agent' (whose name, unfortunately, I cannot remember). The London office was managed by Mr C R (Russell) Howitt.

If there is any more information you think I might be able to help with, I will be more than pleased. Congratulations and best wishes to your mother-in-law, and I hope I haven't missed your 'copy deadline'!

Kind regards, Alan Francis

This is 3 years too late but I'm the great, great nephew of William Bloxidge's wife. I've got a reprint from a trade journal called "The Fancy Goods Trader" from August 1932. It has some photos of the Regal Works in Holliday Road. It's too big to attach here so let me know if you would like me to email it you.

Hello,
Do you remember Edward Teague in accounts? That was my Dad and he worked there in the 60s and left end of 72 because we went to live in Africa. I remember the name Pinsent.
Cameron Teague
