These also are from Blakesley Rd before it was extended and filled with modern housing, or did you want later photos?

Despite having played cricket for Marlboro CC in 1950's I never knew of a Marlborough House, I was never curious enough to question the origins of the name of the team.

I had never heard of Marlborough House myself and although there is a Marlborough Grove & Park I can find no information on the house after a quick glance on the web.

This picture is the same as posted by Phil from 1936 above. From Evening Despatch in March 1940.

“These old cottages in Blakeslet Road, Yardley, are links with the old village of 200 years ago. Popular legend has it that a tunnel connects them with the Parish Church and Blakesley Hall (now a museum), but there is no known fact in their history to prove the story.”
