I have already traced back my grandads fathers side, so thought i would try his mothers side now, but am going to keep searching both sides. I am searching for her parents, siblings and such.
Her name before marrying was Mary Ann Bishop, born 1901/2, died 1984, Married Edward Victor Mann in 1924.

Thanks

hello wendy

the marriage is edward v mann 1924 oct-dec birmingham s 6d 102

there is a birth of mary ann bishop 1901 aston apr-jun 6d 240

as it is a common name i would get the marriage cert first to find the fathers name then only order the birth cert if fathers name is as stated on the marriage certificate.

once we have the parents names and fathers occupation we have a hope at finding them on the censuses.

all the best chris

Many thanks, am going to central library next week anyway, so will check on that and a few other bits of info that i want to clarify.
Can i just look at the certificate or do i have to buy a copy?

Thanks again

hello wendy
i think you can look at the record at the library but have to send for the certificate from the register office and they cost £7 each. as they are both from birmingham you can apply from the birmingham register office. they send certificates much quicker than the general register office.

Wendy, once you know the fathers name you send for the birth certificate and ask them to send it only if the fathers name is the same, you must obviously tell them what it is LOL

Many thanks, i just want to confirm the date of marriage, see it for myself sort of thing, before i open my mouth to the extended family, as the information that people have given me, although i am sure its correct, says that my gt grandmother was heavily pregnant with my grandfather when she got married, i have told my grandad, he thinks its hilarious, but i dont want to upset any family members, they all know i'm doing this, so shouldnt be surprised if secrets get out. Anyway they should be greatful no-one is a mass murderer, well, i havent found any....yet! lol
