Birth search @ the registry office

ALB10N

master brummie
I'm trying to find my wifes Aunts & Uncles born before 1912.
Without being able to use her Grandmothers surname to narrow down the search, I could be looking at an average of three names per quarter that could be possible Aunts/Uncles (apart from the obvious gaps between births).

She informs me that her Father had around 20 younger Brothers/Sisters. (The census isn't helping :( )

Would it be possible therefore, to apply, for Birth certificates giving as much information as possible (Quarter, Year, District, Vol, Page, full names of Parents + maiden name). knowing that there will be a fair few misses?

Has anyone any experience of this?

I don't want to get banned! :rolleyes:

Hi Albion

Because you have parents names you can indeed send for a cert giving the usual details but specify that they send it only if the given parent names match.

Just thought they might get annoyed by the hit & miss of it all....

Could end up guessing at 10 - 15 names but only get it right once

Don't want 'em to think i'm taking the P :D

i think they will check 2 years either side of the year given for no charge and only send the cert if correct parents. thats birmingham, dont know about other areas.

...Two years if given the Christian name

For just a Surname;

".......undertake this as a general search for which the charge for the two years
you mention would be at least £126 plus £7 for each correct entry found."

If only we could get in and search ourselves, eh?
