I am trying to find birth details of my ancestor Caroline Smith. She married David Mackay on October 7, 1836 in St. Martin's, I believe. I think she was born in 1817 in the Parish of St. Martin's. Her father was William Smith and her mother's name may have been Mary Mellon. The latter is the name I am trying to establish.
Anyone help please?
Many thanks,
Brendan Delaney

There is no record of this marriage at St Martins so I checked familysearch and their records state the marriage was Aston Juxsta. This was the parish of Aston so may have been St Peter and St Pauls but equally could have been one of several others.
The only record I found at St Martins was Mary Mellon married Thomas Brooksen Mander on 25th March 1811.

Many thanks for reply. Can you suggest any way of checking the various Aston Juxta parishes?

aston church

Aston Parish church, St Peter and St Pauls is only one church they go under these differances because St Peter and St Pauls is the Parish church of Aston. Juxta as no meaning for the church other than it means next to another location in this case they usually say juxta Birmingham which some people confuse it as the church name so all you want are the records for one church, good luck in your search,bearing in mind the records in Birmingham are at Central library which is closing for a month, you can try Lichfield.

Hi Moma P
Many Thanks ,for Your Hard Work
Do I Just Send To The B,ham Registry Office For These Certi;;
You Are A True Angel My Darling
Astonian;;

Request it from B'ham Registry Office (cost, I think, £7.00) quoting the volume number and page number, with names of the people concerned, plus date. They send them back quite quickly. Not sure if you can do it online, but certainly a postal request (with cheque) should do the trick. Failing that, a personal visit to the Register Office in Holliday Street, Birmingham - usually means about an hour's wait though.
Hope this helps, Astonian.

Its possible too to help friends and relatives overseas... I bought a certificate online for my cousin which they sent to her in Australia.
