Birmingham WW1 Roll Call

JKC

Deleted Upon Request
Unlike my Aston Roll Call, this one only gives a brief detail of the men and boys of Birmingham who gave their lives in the great war....Aston lads are also included in this list.....again please add anynames you think are missing......also if anyone wants to fill in more detail please feel free to do so.......

 How do I add a name, or do you have to do it for me?
I did try and saved changes but it is not there now....

Cromwell......I have used Works Database for this list......

Jennyann.....I thought I had added your Williams name to the Aston WW1 List.....but on checking I must have missed him off.....I will check some of my earlier saved work to see if he is on one of them.

Chris/Jennyann and others I am not too sure how you can add a name to the list, without downloading it, adding your name..saving it then reattach it to you reply..?

Maybe some of our brighter members can think of a way to do it.....

Thanks all the same John But I only use Microsoft Excel and Access
I have them all anyhow on SDGW

I thought you would Cromwell.....your knowledge on this subject is second to none......me I am only a novice......

John, We are all learning, and each of us can tell us things that the other does not know.......We can all be wrong and corrected.......even the great historians......chuffed you have done the Aston Roll of Honour as it was left out of the:-
National Roll of The Great War 1914-1918 Section V1 Birmingham
which was not right and a great injustice was done to the men of Nechells & Aston and when folk consult these books in the future these men will be forgot.........which ain't right

Joseph Fellows killed in France 1918

Hi John,
Thanks for your wonderful research and efforts.
My GrandUncle Joseph Fellows (Fellowes) was killed in France during World War I. He lived with his parents, and his many brothers and sisters (including my grandfather Harry George Fellows) in St Marks Street, Ladywood. Years ago, before I became involved in genealogy, I asked my grandfather if he had lost any brothers in the war; oddly, he snapped back with a no! He was always suspicious that I may have glorified the war, but of course, I was merely facinated with both the history of the war and of its effect on my family.

Cromwell, I own a copy of this book and I have personally added a foreword about Aston men not being recorded. This does not make up for the injustice but it will let future readers know.

John,
Just joined the forum and just found this post, it's brilliant. I collect WW1 medals particularly to casualties so this is a great help, many thanks.
Cromwell and MomaP,
Regarding the B'Ham Roll of Honour Book, people had to pay to have their details put in the book, that's why it contains only a small percentage of the actual casualties.
Alan
