It's 27 years this weekend since the first Birmingham Super Prix, and I'm posting to raise awareness of a book called 'Monaco of the Midlands' by Alex Dennistoun, a friend of mine. I understand he has made it available for sale on Amazon in paperback and digital formats.

I have read the book, and although I may be a little biased, I found it both funny, touching and informative. I had no real awareness of the Superprix beforehand, but now I've become a bit of a fan. I've immersed myself in as much information as I can find off the internet and You Tube, but the story focusses less on the races themselves and more on the effect on people who lived in and around the circuit at this time of year.

As the anniversary approaches, I'd be keen to hear from those residents whose lives were turned upside down on the last week in August every year for five/six consecutive years. Do you think that it was worth it? Were you glad to see the back of it? How would you react if someone tried to revive the event?

Just curious to see if the reaction would match that in the book....
