I was just having a quiet think, as you do, and remembered a story that
was told me by my father when i was just a lad.

His father, my grandfather who died in the 1940's, used to work in the
gun quarter and boasted that he new every street and road in the city
area and exactly where it was.

Considering he wasn't actually born in Birmingham i was most impressed.

But, apparently one day he came home from work looking very dejected
and when asked why. He said 'somebody asked me where Fleet Street
was and how to get to it, and i hadn't got a clue'.

Oh how the mighty hath fallen...

regards Neville..

Nice story Neville. I remeber my Dad being stuck in London on buisness in one of the awful smogs we used to have in the 1960's. The man he was with was blind and got them back to their hotel without a problem. He would often relate this story.
