Birmingham post boy became one of China's top detectives

Albert Aiers grew up in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, during the 1880s. But at 18 years old he answered a newspaper advert that was recruiting for police officers in Shanghai, China.

I've just read this article in today's Daily Mail.
It's more of an advertisement for an upcoming auction but the story behind it is quite interesting. Perhaps other members may find it so as well.
