We are lucky to have retained the iconic Rotunda! Personally I count myself fortunate that I was invited inside for an arts event a few years ago and saw the view from the balcony of the top flat that the architect, James A Roberts designed for himself. This is a successfully repurposed building. Originally an office block, it became partly residential after refurbishing. Admire the same architect's curved Ringway Centre in Smallbrook Queensway while you can as it will be demolished. Incidentaly the Rotunda was originally designed to have a rotating top floor and resemble a candle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotunda,_Birmingham
Just noticed there’s somewhere between 50 and 60 Portakabins -lower centre of the last photo (that’s counting those double stacked). And there’s more further west of the development (not counted). What a massive building project it was. Viv.
