Hi everyone, wondering if someone can help me or point me in the right direction with the following query.
I am currently researching my Local Club’s GAA History here in Ireland. On the 20th of April 1968 a group of 25 players and officials from our club arrived in Birmingham on the invitation of the then Fr. Murphy’s GAA club. There was a reception for the group on the Saturday night and on the Sunday my local club St. Patrick’s and Fr. Murphy’s Birmingham played a friendly challenge match. Both teams were later entertained to a dinner on the Sunday night.
I have ‘GOOGLED’ Fr. Murphy’s Birmingham, but they don’t seem to exist anymore. The current clubs in existence are ‘THE ERIN GO BRAGH’ and JOHN MITCHEL'S HURLING & CAMOGIE CLUB
At this stage I would welcome any information on:
‘Fr. Murphy’s’ Birmingham History
Any newspaper references to the above mentioned event (20th April 1968)
Any Photographs of the Fr. Murphy’s team back then.
Thank you once again for taking the time to read this as it’s not your usual ‘run-of-the-mill’ query that you normally see posted.
Thanking you in advance.
Regards John G.
