Birmingham film production and distribution

Yes, Birmingham had a film industry ! My curiosity about it started with a photo posted by ASparks on the John Bright Street thread showing the premises of Pathe Frere at 88 John Bright Street. This, along with Suffolk Street and Hill Street, seems to be where much of the activity was centred, so much so the term "Kinema Quarter" was coined.

"Brum" (later Birmingham) Film Producing Company

Not too great an image, but it shows the premises at 88 John Bright Street.

Don't let's forget the suppliers to the industry too. This was a time where dramatic developments were underway across the industry. Innovations such as the one below were being supplied by 'Projector House' at #29 John Bright Street.

Perfection Pictures

They seem to have rented out film, equipment and seating. The Company was wound up in 1922.
