Birmingham 1945 now on Google Earth

Google Earth has now added a 1945 aerial view of Birmingham (not sure when it was done but I have only just got to hear about it).

If you have never used Google Earth before:

Download Google Earth and install it.

https://earth.google.co.uk/

Open Google Earth and type "Birmingham" in the search box to display map of Birmingham as it is now (you can use the slider on the right to zoom in and out).

Now select the "clock" icon on the task bar at the top (you have to be on Google Earth version 5 to get the clock).

You now get a slider which you can slide from right to left. If it is on the right hand side it is showing 2010, but as you go to the left it shows 2009, 2005, 2003, 1999 etc. and if you go fully to the left you get 1945.

Thanks again....thought I was having a 'senior moment'...:)

While I find this web site amazing it is huge and it is very easy for useful updates to get "lost" (we cant watch all the forums all the time).

I only discovered this "Maps and Mapping" topic yesterday so thought it was a useful place to let people know about Birmingham 1945.

I know I had already posted the information, but many people may not have seen it.

Yes I agree that things get 'buried' in forums, it was just that late last night, I saw the new thread with same title and wondered where my previous posts had gone.
I found the 1945 views very interesting and I'm waiting for parts of Yorkshire and Lincolnshire to be put on - if Google have the images..
