I was wondering if anyone has come across the name

Thomas Birch who is listed as a cordwainer on his daughter Emma marriage certificate in 1841.

Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen, I'm researching the Birch name also, as it was my g.grandma's
maiden name, I have found two Thomas Birches who I don't think are related to me, but might help you.

William Egliston Birch, christened 14th June 1802 Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
Father Thomas Birch - Mother Ann Birch.

and this one from the 1851 Census.

Elizabeth Birch Head Widow age 34 - Pearl Button Turner
John Birch Son age 13 Spade Maker
THOMAS Birch age 6
Mary Ann Birch age

All born in Birmingham.

Address: Court 4, House 2, Blews Street, Birmingham. (This is Aston)

At the back of our house at 80 Cromwell Street in 1944 lived Thomas Birch, William Birch, Janie Birch and Fredrick V.Birch.
In the 50's only William and Thomas ( Billy & Tom) were there.
One day I was sitting on the Step and Billy Birch said to me "Is your Mom in ?
Could you ask her if she has 12 pennies for a shilling " Ma shouted Yes I have  are you going to gas yourself " " He replied "Yes"
Billy Birch was found dead  the next day with his head in the gas oven.

I have a couple of Thomas Birchs. Your Thomas sound familiar but I don't have him recorded on my computer file; I will have a look in my miscellaneous stuff. My great great grandmother married Joseph Birch before marrying my great great grandfaher, in 1838. Joseph and his family lived in the Lichfield St area and were mostly dyers. Joseph's father was Benjamin Birch. Joseph's and my great grand mother Maria's children that I have records for are Sarah (b. about 1840), Louisa (b. about 1843), Susannah (b. about 1845) and Hannah (b. 1847)
