I am currently sorting some photographs out.

Can anyone identify the bikes in these photographs? No competition as I don't know the answers. I see by the registration letters that they were originally registered across the Midlands.

They feature my late FiL and either brothers and or friends. One venue they used to go to was Slapton Sands where they would strip the bikes down and race along the sand.

One time Wal (far left in second photo) recalled them all racing up Porlock Hill (quite a challenge even into the 60's I recall. A friend whose father's income meant he could have the best of the then new bikes got so annoyed when he was beaten that he ripped the seat off and threw it into the bushes at the side of the hill. It was only when it was pointed out that he would find it very uncomfortable riding back to Brum less seat that he went looking for it.

I think the bike ( RW Coventry) is a AJS, It has a " Stirrup " type front brake which went out by 1923.
I have a picture of a sidecar simular to the second photo attached to a 1920's Norton but I think it would be that date. One person who made sidecars at this time was Bill Lyons ( Swallow 1922) in Blackpool later Jaguar.

Ah for one of those sidecars. BTW taking a closer look I think that is my late FiL in the sidecar all togged up to go somewhere.
