My maternal grandfather was Charl or Charles Bennett born june 1898. Before he married my grandmother he was married to a lady called Elsie May Powell, they wed at St Andrews in Bordesley in December 1921 when they we both 23, they were both from Garrison Lane. My mom is curious to find out if there were any offspring from this union, but can't find a way to locate this information. Or indeed anything about her.

Charl Bennett also used to entertain at the Bartons Arms as a comedian under the name Will Bent, and my gran (Ivy Bennett nee Lewis) and her sisters would sing there. I wonder if there is anything out there like a poster, that would be a fantastic find.........

the only births i can see for birmingham with surname bennett and mothers maiden name powell are

jean e bennett in 1933 and john e bennett in 1935. i presume these would be too late to be your family?

there is a elsie may powell aged 13 in 1911 with her parents john powell 1866 coal miner road repairer, and mother sarah jane powell 1868. elsie had 1 brother and 1 sister and they were all born gailey common, warks.

yes they are a bit, I think he married my gran in around 1930 as my uncle is a wee bit older than my mom who was born in 1936, his name is Charl too, just to confuse matters and my mom is Rita, but thank you for the other info I'm seeing mom tomorrow as i'll pass it on to her, thank you!
