BEDFORD William who married Sarah Ann.

bas43

knowlegable brummie
I am research the Surname BEDFORD in Birmingham and wonder if someone might be able to help me sort out the following by doing a ‘look up’ in the Parish Records:

1) William Bedford who married Sarah Ann Maddox
on 29 Sep 1856 at Saint Jude, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
IGI Batch No. M073602

I am presuming /hoping that the Father’s name and Occupation would be given for each Spouse.
I’m looking for a John Bedford, as the father of William, but would be interested to find whatever info is available, including William Bedford’s occupation. I have traced my BEDFORD connection to Birmingham back to approx. 1782...

2) A Christening
Name: William Bedford
Date: 28 Sep 1856 at St Thomas, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.
Parents: William Bedford and Sarah Ann (surname not given)
IGI Batch No. C041171

My question re the child ‘William Bedford being christened. Are the parents the same adults who were married on the 29th Sep 1857 at another Church....

I tried looking through the various Census for another family which contains parents 'William & Sarah Ann'.... but have not found /noticed them.....

Any help would be much appreciated.

In 1861 Cross Street Birmingham
Lydia Bedford age 71 widow
William age 28 married son Wire worker
Sarah 26 daughter in law
William 6
George 4
Emma 2
Alice 3 months all born Birmingham

1841 Hill street Birmingham

Lydia Bedford age 40? widow her age was 78 when she died in 1869
James 17
Emma 15
Henry 10
William 8
Julia 6

Have found the baptism of Julia in August 4th 1834 St Martins parents John and Lydia.

found birth of a Sarh Ann Maddocks 1835 baptised St martins parents George and Mary which would explain Wm/Sarahs sons name.

Marriage of John Bedford to Lydia Prason 24th December 1820 Aston Juxta Birmingham

Cannot find the name Prason perhaps Parson(s)

Re: A quandary: Re: William BEDFORD who married Sarah Ann.

Hello Alberta,

Thank you for your reply.
Re the surname of Prason.... maybe its a ' typo ' and as you suggest... should read Parson(s).
I have proof of data being incorrect.... which I presumed was a simple typo. My G Grandfather Thomas Bedford was born 20 Oct 1842, but the IGI gives his YEAR of birth as 1843.
Thanks for the suggestion about the 'Parson surname' and I will follow up as soon as I can access the IGI.....
