Bates Nathan William of Sherborne Street, Birmingham in 1905

Brummie babby
I am looking for any information on a family who lived in Sherborne Street (off Broad Street) around 1905. My Great Grandfathers name is Nathan William Bates and he was married to Alice Emily Wilkes. My grandmother was born at this address in 1905. She has other brothers and sisters; Lilian, Frank and Sarah (Sally) to name but a few. The family seemed to move to Smethwick where he worked as a brewery labourer at Mitchells and Butler. My Alice Emily Bates (nee Wilkes) died in 1927 and he remarried shortly after.

I know for a fact she was buried in Uplands Cemetry as was Lilian - they share the same grave stone which I am visiting this Friday for further information.

If there is any chance that anyone will have any information or leads I would be most grateful. :)

Hi Suzanne

I cant thank you enough for finding this info for me did you go on the 1911 census? Our problem is that my mother was told virtually nothing about her family and we had no idea they had gone to live in Hull for a while. This has really opened up the search for us. Thanks again from my myself and especially mum xx
