Bit of a mystery here Lyn. I took it you did mean Barker st Lozells At that time there was a Barker st - in Ladywood also. Are you sure it is the Lozells one . Trouble is no 35 Barker st is in blue, and there don't seem to be any back houses. Therefore, although there is only one family listed in the electoral roll in 1920, i think the place would have been divided into flats in 1911.
However if it was Barker St , Ladywood, then at the back of no 35 (in red) is Byron Place (in green), which has a number of houses in it.
Take your pick
Mike
morning mike...this is exactly what i thought...the barker st in lozells which i know so well as its close to villa st still have the original houses there and i could not see there being a back of 35...i will check the census again for the district but yes as i have the family on the 1901 ladywood area but a different address i would think its that barker st....mike i wonder if you could give me the name of family on the e rolls for both the lozells and the ladywood barker streets please i am looking for the downes family and as our mom and dad used to visit this address i would think they were there for some time..... thank you mike...
Not much help Lyn.
1912 Ladywood Goodyer
Lozells Nutt
Absent 1918 Jadywood Deeming
1920 Ladywood Goodyear
Lozells Hollingsworth
Of course women were not included in 1912

hi are you any connection to the downes family lived up a big terrace by upper sutton street
and the terrace was next but one to the victoria rd post office the actual terrace was on victoria rd aston
there was big familys up there along with the douglas family during the war years and through the mid forties and fifties as i seem to recall and
the fishers family best wishes astonian and i think the douglas,s finally moved to lenox street in the late fifties when they started to clear those back houses up the terrace only i also lived in the old cake shop just along from the baths on the corner of upper thomas street then moved down to the bottom end of victoria rd aston and i remember the nottingham family ; whom i would really like to trace today as we go back many years i know they went to aston church rd from there .then to park rd hockley one lived in baccus rd and one went to castle bromwich
but getting back to my question are you related to the downes family from that terrace on victoria rd during the forties and fifties
best wishes astonian
