Barford St B.C.T. Bus Garage

Barford Street garage was BCT's first exclusive bus garage, as opposed to ex tram depot.
It was built originally as a factory, and converted to a garage opening in June 1925 to operate the Inner Circle 8 with special 'low height' buses to pass under the Hockley Railway viaducts. Later the road was lowered for standard height buses to pass safely under them.
It closed in April 1955 when the new Lea Hall garage opened and route operations were re-allocated across the system.

Barford Street used also to provide the buses for the 19 City Circle route, also I believe for the route 28. Its allcoation comprised 16xx Daimlers plus 2816-2834.
