Interestingly on the 1841 census Joseph and Selina have a servant living with them.... Eliza Weston. I've often wondered whether she was their Servant or whether she was just living with them.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has any of these Bakers in their family tree or has any further information relating to any of my 'finds' so far.

i am also looking for a family ancester of mine. baker, this member is martin baker ,he was employed in birmingham as a builder ,he came from ireland to work ,when brum was being all rebuilt in the 50s 60s he lived however in coventry till 1963 ,i beleive and no :(one has heard of him since. before the building trade he was in the royal air force till 1953.

My Great grandfather was William Baker. Born 1839, (I think he was married to Mary Matthews, who died before 1891)). He was a boatman during the 1880's, involved in coal deliveries. His daughter, Maria was my grandmother, and his son Alfred was shipped to Canada in 1894 (aged 11) after being found roaming the streets of Birmingham. Hard times!
