Last night there was a very interesting programme on BBC2 about food in the 1950s. They talked about a 'National Loaf' which they said was a type of brown bread (and not very nice) and whilst I can remember most of the other foods that were mentioned (although I don't think the packaging on the 'National Margarine' was correct) neither myself (local) or Mrs J (North of England) can recall a Brown National Loaf. Can anyone remember them?
