Auxiliary Fire Service - Albert Edward ALLSOP, Stechford

I'm posting this message on the off chance that the name Albert Edward ALLSOP rings a bell with someone. He was my brother-in-law's father and served in the Auxillary Fire Service during WW2. During the day he worked on the railways and at night served in the Fire Service. You just wonder how they managed to do it. Unfortunately we know very little about his Fire Service days, where he was based, etc. At this time he was living in the Stechford area of Birmingham. If anyone can help with info, etc., it would be much appreciated.

Although as Bob says there is not a dedicated thread on the AFS but there are many references to the AFS and the work they carried out https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=14039&highlight=fire+service there are also threads on the Tozer family https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=11339&highlight=fire+service and those thread contain quite a lot of information on the AFS.
An interesting book on the AFS is Michael Minton's book Heroes of the Birmingham Air Raids I have looked but there's no mention of him in there.

There was a large Auxilliary Fire station at the Fox & Goose, Ward End. My Dad, his brother & my mother were all stationed there. Dad worked making spitfires at Fisher & Ludlow & his brother worked at the Dunlop.
Unfortunately they are all dead now, so can´t ask them about it.

Another sign of old age. I had forgotten that there was already a thread about the A.F.S, whatsmore I had contributed to it.

Happy days.

It will only get worse.
