At Yardley Wood Garage today

That's where it lives ladylinda. The last of its kind, inherited from Birmingham City Transport, to be still owned by Travel West Midlands. It is available for hire by contacting the garage.

Do you know,Motorman-Mike,I've never noticed it there before!
I've only been going to the garages for the last 13 years!!! must walk round with my eyes closed!!.......(I do if it's early mornings!)

Fair to say, it is usually parked at the other end of the garage out of sight from the pavement outside the garage. It appears at Wythall and Aston Manor Bus Museums on manyof their special opening days as well as going out to other garages for retired driver tow ins. Most private hires are for weddings and ex busmens funerals. The public can get to ride on it on special journies during the Tolkien Weekends at the Sarehole Mill in Hall Green.

Hi There, I can remember as a young lad during the war looking inside the garage, we only lived five
minutes away in Cleeve Road. There was a full length mirror with a notice saying,"This is how the public
see you", must be over seventy years ago, how times fly! Bernard

Mike,I've only ever been to the far end of the garage or canalside bus park very early in the morning!
Didn't even see it last month when the 177 Smart Card Readers were installed on Yardley Woods Buses over the weekend!

At Yardley Wood Garage in the 50's thee was stored about 6 old buses with snow ploughs underneath them does anyone have any info

Through to the 1960's YW had a row of withdrawn Daimler COG5 buses fitted with snowploughs underneath and backwheel snowchains for use over bus routes during heavy snowfall. These were used along with a lorry converted from another COG5 bus for grit spreading. There's more about these in the 'Birmingham Buses' thread.
