Aston Parish Registers

Help! I am trying to search my Great Aunt - Amelia Catherine Barnes - born 1872. I believe I may have her wedding photo - searched for weddings in Aston and found two possible matches (William Williams and John Ricketts as possible spouses - wed in 1901. How can I establish who she was married to and search the parish registers - I think she may have died soon afterwards as I cannot find her on the 1911 census. Any advice would be really appreciated. Jo

Hi Jo

It most likey was to John Ricketts but obviously the marriage certificate would help. There's a death for Amelia Catherine Ricketts B1872 died 1909 JFM 62 23 aged 37.

Just wondering if this could be their daughter? A marriage of Lily Elizabeth Ricketts to John Henry Collett 6th Sept 1930 Yardley Worcester.
Her father, John Ricketts, His father, John Henry Collett. Lily is aged 21 born 1909, John Henry is 22 born 1908. Both single.
There is also a death of a John Ricketts Born circa 1856 aged 63 in Worcester. 6c 194 JFM.

Very many thanks both!! I will obtain the marriage certificate asap - the photo does show the bride as being quite a bit younger than the spouse and, if Lily was her daughter, born in 1909, it could be that Amelia died in childbirth (?) Jo

Suzanne - Sorry, a bit naive - but what does IGI stand for? I subscribe to Ancestry.co.uk and have used that to research my husband's family - lovely, I discovered long lost cousins in the US - they came over in June last year and in Feb, my son and his girlfriend went to stay with them - really exciting!! As I mentioned, I have a lovely photo and discovered my grandparents on there - another photo came to light but unmarked and matched the bride, which I feel must be Amelia ( a strong resemblance to my grandfather)- I think she may be named after her grandmother. Many thanks for your help! Jo
