A delightful and most interesting set of old 'photos. I did enjoy looking at them. Many thanks for posting them.
I never served with horses but some younger wags in my service days were quite convinced that I did. I did just manage the older style open engines where one strapped oneself to the brass side rails and held on for dear life. :excitement:

Thanks for the pics, my son is keen on becoming a fireman, albeit he wants to be a New York one - and he loves fire engine pics of ny sort.

Aston Fire Brigade Pictures
This is previously posted picture #3 of Aston Fire Brigade
I came across a local newspaper article that named 2 of the Officers in this picture.
The date of the photograph would probably be c 1910 (looking at the age of the son in the photo)
The 2 men are also in previously uploaded photo #7 - Archibald J Treadaway (jnr) is in the front row centre and his father Archibald J Treadaway (snr) in behind his son - 5th from the right on the centre row.
Aston Fire Brigade Pictures
This is previously posted picture #3 of Aston Fire Brigade
I came across a local newspaper article that named 2 of the Officers in this picture.
- 2nd from the right is Archibald J Treadaway - he was Assistant Superintendent of Aston Fire Brigade - records show that he was born in 1883 in Aston.
- 3rd from the right is his Father - also named Archibald J Treadaway - he was Chief Superintendent of Aston Fire Brigade - records show that he was born 1848 in Cambridgeshire.
The date of the photograph would probably be c 1910 (looking at the age of the son in the photo)

Two, I have not been on this site for a long time as nobody seemwd to have any thing to add. What a surprise to see the black and white (Snowy and Blacky) on the left hand side of the picture, I have a photo of the pair of them putting their heads through the halters when the bell rang to let them know that they would be attending a fire.
My Grandfather is standing watching them do this as a demonstration for the camera and on the opposite side was the fire chief who is sitting with the reigns and in the light coloured trousers. I have other pictures of the brigade taken in 1909. My Grandfather left there to take up the post of Fire Chiet of Bartley Green in 1911.

Two, I have just scrolled down the page and what do I see, my Grandfather on the right of your second picture. Where the heck did you get these pictures. I did not think any one alive would know any of these firemen.

Keith the photo number two down is slightly different to the one I have as Snowy has put his head through the halter and is one step nearer the camera. Unusual as I did not think they could take photo's that quickly in those days. If you want I copy these photo's I live in Olton. Pipone on this site is writing a book about the Aston Fire Brigade.
