Aston & Erdington AFL

Dave Ackrill

proper brummie kid
Hi,

It's been a while since I logged onto this forum, but I have a question about the Aston & Erdington AFL. I did a search on this site and a web wide search but couldn't come up with any information on the Aston & Erdington AFL.

My grandfather wore a pendant on his watch chain as shown in the attached photograph. Appologies for the poor quality, I'll try to get a better one later. So, I guess that he must have been involved with the league at some point in his life. I don't think he played, but maybe he was a supporter?

His name was Henry (Harry) Rowley and, when I was born, he and my grandmother lived in Hall Green but I think they may have lived in other areas as I know that my Mum livedPendant Zoom.JPG in Sparkhill when she was a young girl in the 1930s.Does anyone have any information about this league please?

Thanks - Dave Ackrill

The first mention of Aston & Erdington AFL that I can find is January 1952, but it may have been in existence as Aston & Erdington Football Leage for at least 30 years before 1950.
In 1958 the Secretary was at 225 Victoria Road Aston.
