Artz what does it mean

wonder if anybody can help me
i know my great great grandfather was a miller as it states on the 1881 census
but after the word miller is the word (Artz)
can anybody tell me what the word (Artz) means

to be honest smtr i havent clue
all i know it was it was after the word miller on the census

artz short for artisan as smtr surgested means

craftsman: a skilled worker who practices some trade or handicraft

so millers must have been classed as a skilled worker
