Application for marriage certficate rejected. Help needed

I recently applied onkine for amrriage certificate for a Emma Amelia Cooper and John Tilling.

I listed the father as being Samuel Cooper and the mother as Hannah Cooper. The details I had been given were December quarter 1903.

The letter I recieved back said that the information given by me does not appear to be the entry I require as the bride's father differs.

I applied online in the middle of the night so I may have made a mistake. So I want to try again.

Is there anyway someone can check if my details are correct before trying again.

Many thanks

Hi Ellie,

The marriage ref. for Emma Amelia Cooper and John Tilling is Aston 1903 Oct to Dec volume 6d page 442.
But you do not have mother's name on a marriage certificate.

hi Ellie, you may have given the GRO that reference number, but because you gave parental information about the bride, if this does not match they will not send the certificate.

It is best not to give parental information when applying for certificates as the inforamtion you have may not be correct.

This also applies to birth certificates. Just give tme of the reference numbers and the name of the suject of the certificate, baby, bride and groom etc.

The only time I would give additional information is if I was not certain if I had the correct birth certificate in that case I would give the mothers name as the chances of this being wrong is very unlikely.
