my grandfather worked as a motorman in Leicester, upto 1923 then disappeared, wonder if he moved because of family connections to Birmingham.
where can i go to check any records?

You could try the online Birmingham electoral rolls at https://www.midlandshistoricaldata.org - or tell us his full name, and age if known.

For the Leicester side of things, this page should give a few leads to try.

If he was a 'driver' or 'motorman' on the Leicester City Tramways, he would have driven this tram, now beautifully restored at the Tramway Museum Village, Crich, Derbyshire.
