Any More Children

Ewan

master brummie
John Cox married a Sarah Brotherton in 1806 at Edgbaston, I have one record of a baptism of their son John Brotherton Cox 1810 at St Philips. Is there a way that I could find out if the couple had any more children?

Help with finding this out greatly appreciated.
Ewan

hi ewan, i have found these which may be from the same family

mary ann cox b. 1 sep 1807 bap. 1 aug 1808 at st. phillips. parents john cox and sarah
sarah cox b. 29 dec 1811 bap. 3 jun 1812 at st. phillips. parents john cox and sarah

Hello Ewan, I have just looked on the IGI Batch Numbers site and found the following: Mary Ann born 1 Sept 1807, bap 1 August 1808. John Brotherton, born 3 Nov 1809 baptised 13 August 1810, and Sarah born 29 Dec 1811, baptised 3 June 1812. After that, there does not seem to be any more, but they may have been baptised at another church (or I might have missed some!). There are a few to go through, there were several Cox families but I think I do have them all at St Phillips. Shortie

Thank you Shera and Shortie for your replies with help, the Mary Ann b 1807 and Sarah b 1811 children of a John and Sarah Cox may be the same couple that I am researching. I did see loads of baptisms on the IGI but wasn't sure whether it was children of this same couple. John and Sarah married in 1806 and it is hard to know when this couple stopped 'producing' children. Sarah was born according to the 1851 census in 1778 and John 1783.

If possible I would like to trace any of their offspring in later censuses, I already have John Brotherton Cox b 1809.

I have just looked at the 1841 where I have John and Sarah Cox they have 4 children still living with them. I have highlighted 4 children from the list that Shera kindly typed out, the birth dates do match well with what is stated on the 1841 census.

On the 1851 census John and Sarah just have their grandson Alfred Brookes living with them.

Sarah could of been aged 45 when she had William 1823/1824, so the other children listed could quite possibly belong to the same couple. Some of them could of died at an early age, left home by the 1841 census, or were living with relatives. There are still a few not accounted for so if anyone can help out by tracking them down please.

Many thanks
Ewan

PS

An interesting factor that I have just noticed is that all 16 children of a John and Sarah Cox is that all the baptism records were submitted and not extracted, perhaps they were all the children of the same couple?
