Pete's dad was a Herbert Smith but there are or were so many of them Marjorie. Have you a middle name?. Jean?.
 
Marjorie, you will need to try quite a few places. Most churchyards were closed by this date. The cemeteries to try are Witton, Yardley and then possibly Lodge Hill (I think too far away really). You can find telephone numbers and emails on the Birmingham City Council web site - you will get a speedier response if you phone. If he is not at either place, it might be your best bet to obtain the death certificate - he maynot have died at home, and that might give you another pointer as to where he may be buried. Another thought - where did his children live? They may have buried him in the cemetery near to where they lived.
