I am trying to trace information re eh marriage Ann Horton and Abraham Chillingsworth 19 May 1824 at St Martins. If you had any further information from the marriage entry eg possible parent names, occupation, where groom from etc I would be very grateful.

this is the info on the certificate

abraham chillingsworth of the parish of hanbury in the county of worcester and ann horton of this parish spinster were married in this church by licence 19 may 1824

they both signed their names

the witnesses were hannah richards and william wright richards

Eureka the right Ann Horton after much searching. What details are there of her, if any, within St Martin records.. Believe she was born about 1802/3.

There seems no record of her in 1841 census so perhaps died between death of 3rd child, Ann in 1828 and 1841. Any further about her, her parents etc, gratefully accepted

This could be your Abraham. extracted from the register.

Hi there, had a quick look on BMD 1837-1841 for an Ann Chillingsworth death and no result,so she may have died 1828-1837.

Re: Ann Horton / Thomas Chellingworth

Thanks for the updates.... Back to the parish records then... St Martins Birmingham for Ann and Hanbury for the Chellingworths..

i have had a look for ann horton but there are so many hortons its very difficult. i did find one christened at st. martins on 30 sep 1803 with parents thomas and barbara horton, but there are several ann hortons christened at st. phillips about the same time period :(

Thank you very much for looking.. I too found a number of Ann Horton and thought all could be the one who married Abraham and have been trying to find some link to decide which one. However, only one Ann Horton, I found, was baptised at St Martins.

Abraham's elder sister Hannah, I believe married at St Martins in 1820, and lived in Birmingham at Lower Essex Street for a period of time. The census record said it was St Martin's Registration District...

Abraham seems to have had 3 children, Thomas 1825, John 1826 and Ann 1828 [only ones I have found]. Thomas emigrated to Australia where he married Ellen Parker, apparenty in Bendigo Victoria in about 1853/4 and they had 10 children, none of whom seem to have any names that match relatives, I have found in England, other than Thomas. I have not managed to find Thomas's emigration/ship record or Ellen and Thomas's marriage.

Does St Martins have a record of :
Hannah's marriage around 1820
or Mary [b. 1792] marriage abt 1812 or
if remotely possible the marriage of John Chellingworth and Esther ?? say around 1770. [these were Abraham's parents]

Be very grateful for any info that could be found.

With thanks
