Ankcorn

Mr Zippy

master brummie
Ankcorn is my wife's maiden name and I am trying to establish a link to the Anckorn's of Haselor in Warwickshire. I have established that her great great great grandfather Samuel Ankcorn lived in Salter Street, Solihull and was the son of George Ankcorn, a labourer. According to the IGG there were two strands of Anckorn - in Haselor and Studley. I am assuming my wife is related to the Haselor branch, but have no conclusive proof. Can anyone help?

The only way to be sure is to purchase certificates then you will be sure of father's names etc. This is the only way you can prove a confirmed connection. I presume you have a family tree recorded, because even the IGI has many mistakes. If it's before 1837 you should check either parish records or bishops transcripts. Hope this helps.
