Ankcorn

Mr Zippy

master brummie
Hi,

My wife's family this time. I have got as far back as 1800 to George Ankcorn (father of Samuel of Salter Street) who was born in Haselor Warwickshire. But I wonder whether anyone has got back further.

There is a family belief that the name is Dutch (maybe because it sounds that way!), but in the early 1800s the name appears to be clustered around Warwickshire with a smattering in the South East, Kent mainly. Nothing to suggest a foreign origin. Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

As you say the name appears to be located mainly in Warks.
The earliest I heve found is John Ankorn baptised Studley 6th aug 1682 parents Richard and Martha

Re. your George there is a George baptised 3rd Feb 1805 Studley
parents Thomas and Ann.There are 2 other chioldren of this couple
Thomas 22nd ,Nov 1807, Samuel 18th May 1813

Cannot find marriage of a thomas and Ann

There is baptism of Thomas 3rd june 1770 studley
parents George and Ann.

Thomas and George seem to crop up a lot, mainly because the eldest son was always named after the father.
