Researching family history of Solomon and Leah Amos from central Birmingham previously mentioned in another post on here. Think their ancestors may have been on canals,

Can be tricky if they were boat people. You may already know this but...

Solomon married Leah Brown 28 Dec 1891 St Jude's, Bham. He appears to be the son of Joseph Amos and Emma Hilton. Joseph (listed as Ames) and Emma marriage was registered Bham 1858. Can't see him on the census until 1901.

Leah was the daughter of Samuel Brown and Leah Barlow.

Thank you for your reply.....Are you researching this family too...
Hi yes I have that info and have found him living with parents Joseph and wife Emma Hilton in 1871 census at Canalside Northfields Kings Norton name HEMERS.....then can't find them in 1881 census so wondering if on canal .......but then got family in 1891 census at 3 Bridge Rd .....wondering if anyone else researching this family ....??
Have got back to 1841 census with Joseph's parents John and Sarah ....

No connection, just trying to help. I did have similar named ancestors Hemus, which proved quite tricky with varying spellings.

Was Joseph not a brickmaker, the son of Theophilus and Elizabeth then?
