Allied Advance 1944

Hello folks

Can anyone give me a clue about the following?

I'm looking without much success for what the 1 Bn Leicestershire's were doing in France on or around the 15 Aug 1944 (I am looking to see how someone was killed in action there. If it helps he is buried in the Ranville War Cemetary.)

Im a bit foxed by how difficult it is to find out what was happening in WW2 compared to WW1.

Thanks

Thanks Sospiri

John Morris Siddons is already on the War Graves Roll of honour but the Green Tiger link was very useful.

I now have more background as to what was going on when he as fatally wounded. I have emailed the webmaster on Green Tiger to see if its possible to find a record of the Action. A good start now I'm looking for enlistment dates any other theatres of war he served in and a photo if I can find one.

Many thanks again for the first step on what I expect will be a long road.
