Hi guys ;
does anybody recall the hardware shop on the corner of ellen street and brookfields
that used to be there also does any body recal the harrisons family and the twins ; georgeie
there was three brothers and the two was twins whom i went to school with
they lived in ellen st ; or does anybody recall the alibones family from george street west
oppersite the st peters church they had alot of hardware shops two on spring hill and one in king edwards rd up the spring hill passage where there mother used to live she was he old lady with bad health
one was on the corner of george st west oppersite the coach and horses pub ; and the other one was further along opperthe butchers ; where you could get a breast of lamb for a shilling and it fed a family of five

I remember Allibone and Batchelor's shop very well, and I had a quite a lot of clothes from there. My boyfriend at the time lived in Ellen Street, but I don't remember a hardware shop. There was a bookie in that area called with the name Watty Green, and he was my boyfriends uncle.

Hello Alan,

You are right Alibone and Batchelor, was always called Alibone's by us locals. My dad isn't the one who worked at Winson Green though, so you may have got me muddled up with someone else. You do remember Watty Green though, as you say it's a small world. (See Maggie UK's post).
