Have you actually approached the RAF? As you probably would be the next of kin, they might be prepared to help. I tried on behalf of a friend whose brother was adopted and later died. They didn't have a photograph of him older than a young boy and hoped to obtain a service photo. Unfortunately, as he has adopted and his sister was no longer his next of kin they could not help, but did say that if, for some reason a next of kin wanted access to his file, then they would have been pepared to consider it

Anyway, best wishes in your search

well folks tried all the avenues you suggested ,but to no avail .also the r.a.f.wrote to me saying there could be no information given as it was not there policy ,or some similar wording. but hoped i could find him soon elsewhere .so onwards and upwards but thanks all for your replies harley.

Have you tried doing a search on Ancestry (from the time he was last known to be alive) to see if there has been a death registered for him.
