Could anyone tell me how do i find out if an address still exists? ie from 1891, 1901 and 1911.
I can get the actual roads on multimap and google, but the its the actual numbers i am after, or would i have to go in person, not a problem, nice few hours out driving around brum lol

Hi Wendy,

I'm not in the UK any more, but I think the Electoral Rolls are available in Central Library up until about 2002 - that's as good a guide as any! :)

Regards,

Maurice

Fantastic, thats another job on my list for the library, was supposed to go last week, but am going next week, cant wait. If they still exist am going to ask the occupiers if its ok to take a pic or 2.
Thanks again

Yes, probably best to ask, given all the hoo-haa about the Google Street View pictures a week or two back.

A couple of years ago I was researching a particular house in Cadbury Road and, because I live in Crete, I posted a request on one of the Yahoo Groups for someone to take a photograph. I think six different people did in the end, none of whom asked permission, and one of my helpers said he could see the neighbours looking out from behind the curtains! They must have really wondered what was going on if they saw all those people taking pictures!

I would be a bit upset if someone took pics of my house without asking, its only curtious. Not that anyone would i imagine, its not that old, built 1968/69, and nothing exciting has happend here lol

Wendy.

This particular property was one of the big old houses built around 1908 - probably a very posh residence in its time, but I suspect now converted to multiple occupation, which opens up another can of worms. Do you ask all the tenants, the freeholder or who? :D
