gone but not forgotten
(the old saying is never go back becouse things are never the same as they was)....well today i went back to where i spent the first 14 years of my life ABERDEEN STREET winson green.....as i walk down the street i could see all my friends playing in the street....the shop at the bottom of the opening i could see my dad coming out the queens head pub my mom running one of us down the yard ( with the brush in her hand ) the old tree is still there over the railway that i used to climb..carved my name on that tree over 50 years ago... i could see mrs cheslin (who used to give me sixpence for peeling her potatoes )...i could see the penny winkle man who came around every sunday the old rag and bone man who gave us a goldfish for rags ...st patricks school where i went is stiil the same summerfield park where we spent meny a hour with a bottle of tea and jam sarnies....my 14 years in that street was the happest time of my life and i enjoyed every minute of going back down memory lane....so sometime it is nice to go back

hi josie and good for you...i do exactly the same thing quite a few times a year...my stamping ground is villa st and nursery road...ok it may not be the same now and my house is long gone but there are still quite a few landmarks left..close my eyes and things are just the same... our happy carefree days and happy memories are the one thing that no one can take away from us josie so carry on with your trips down memory lane and dont let anyone tell you different..

josie you are correct about bsw and farm st now only runs as far as wheeler st..the only landmarks left is friends hall and a building next to it..the old provident building corner of farm st/villa st and the queens head pub corner of farm st and hunters vale is still up and running..i was down there not that long ago and the poor old pally looks ready to fall down..always thought it strange that i never used the pally..we used the villa cross pic house..
