Moderators would like to draw all our members' attention to a recent inappropriate use of the Quote and Reply function. We emphasise that this only crops up occasionally, usually from advertisers or promoters. Mods are constantly examining posts to keep such action off this site.
A hypothetical example to illustrate a recent incident is attached below.
Example: a new member posts: "I think the Albany was a great hotel". At first glance, this appears fine, simply a response to the earlier quoted post. But above the new comment the new member has tampered with the quote by adding a link: "Check this out on this link www.made up post." (See between blue dots and text in italics in example above).
Not only was this an unacceptable action, as the new member had altered the original post, but the link contained dubious advertising material.
Please be alert to thIs irregular use of the Quote and Reply function when receiving responses to your posts. Mods are, as always, vigilant in tackling such actions, but if a member should spot similar activity, please raise a report alerting mods who will quickly take the necessary action.
